A tool developed for MeteoSwiss to provide Extended Auto Correction for METAR, SPECI and TAF bulletins. The ultimate goal of the project is to streamline the current laborious manual process of fixing erroneous MET messages. It is worth noting that the complexity of the problem prompted us to use a stochastic method that, although yielding results not as exact as is offered by a procedural approach, affords us far more powerful fixing capabilities. This does however imply that results beyond a simple first procedural fixing phase would for the foreseeable future still need to be confirmed by a human operator.
